The Suitcase of Courage Vs. The Designer Bag of Courage...

On saturdays ride, as I was nearing bonking and cramping strange muscles I never knew I had, the Kyler told me to dig into my suit case of courage.

For the next few miles I thought of this strange advice.

If Ludo D, Michele Bartoli, and Andrei Tchmil had suitcases of courage, I think it would look like this...
But for people like myself, and my friend Pepe, it would look more like this...a Louis Vuitton Handbag of Courage,

or in my friend Pepechins case, perhaps a Hermes Handbag of Courage.

Helmet Modifications

This post and this project is inspired by a little conversation I had with the Jamification(Jamner) about helmet aesthetics and how a small change in the shading of a helmet can dramatically alter its overall apperance. After drinking a nice cold bottle of La Fin Du Monde, I decided to steal Meg's expensive nail polish to put some new additions to my helmet. Tomorrow, I will be receiving a completely tricked out Chris King wheelset she told me to buy off ebay. It should be the nicest wheelset I have ever owned.

Anyways, those with a keen eye will be able to tell right away what I have done. I think the helmet looks WORLDS better than it did before. Jamner, I think you should do the same, since you have the same helmet. It seriously looks like a brand new helmet.

Today Mike M. and I went on a blisteringly cold ride. It was 15 or something with a windchill of 4 degrees. When we started my face was beginning to get really itchy bceause of the intense cold. We ended up doing a really great cross workout somewhere off the bike path with us trying out the McCormack method(Unclipping both feet and stepping through) of dimounting versus the Sven Nys(no Step through) approach that I like to do. With the Crank Brothers pedals, I have found that the pedals don't necesarily unclip if I do the step through, so I have completely stopped doing the step through apporach to dismounting. I am very glad we did not ride too far since it was way too cold.

We both lamented the conditions of our shitty shitty brakes.

We rode laps on the arlington soccer field. The snow riding was crazy hard and totally treacherous!!!!! At one point I found this total sweet spot where I was riding peoples footsteps.

Anyways, I was pretty excited to get some riding in this weekend, and of course to see the Patriots win.

"Buy when there is blood on the streets"

Last night, utilizing the magic of a fast internet connection and the art of savvy bidding, I realized one of my dreams.

With talks of the recession, and the news of possible interest rate cuts, people's worries were not in how high this particular item was going to fetch on the open market.

Usually, I have seen USED wheelsets comparable to this one for as high as $600 WITHOUT tires nor skewers.

Tonight I will celebrate this momentous occasion by buying myself some liquid property at the LCC meeting.

Bye for now.

How I gained an extra 50 Watts

Anyone use these things?

Also, I am really sweating a racing/training wheelset, around 1500 Gms for under $500. I have narrowed it to

1) Easton 90 SLX
2) Rol Volant
3) Williams System 19

I don't really need a new wheelset, but I have been having this horrendous and truly time consuming urge to get one.

I hate being OCD.

Silence....

Very little activity on everyone's cross blogs this time of year...
