It was a bit messy, but with some serious prep work, it was much much better than last year. My new weapons...electrical tape and tubular tape.
Here is the deal.
I put on two nice layers of glue to the rim. Slapped the tape on there. slapped electrical tape on the rim walls.
Here is my new contribution to the world. I also slapped on electrical tape on top of the peel off section of the tubular tape so that it does not tear and is super easy to peel off when time cometh.
I put two dry layers on the tire, and one tacky layer on before assembling. After it was all aligned, I rolled the tires over a broom so that the base tape is in good contact with the tubular tape. All looks strong so far, but who knows with this crap.

"I rolled the tires..." - poor choice of words!
Funny. I was just thinking the same thing!
such overkill. do a good job with glue alone and you'll be fine.
Damn Rosey! Where are you checking email from and how is the trip????
Didn't Rosey roll a tubular at Gloucester last year? But he helped me glue one of set of my tubulars over a year ago and they are still running strong.
