All right...why don't these things work anymore?
I am using the Quolem Super extra hot balm. It has snow flakes falling on it on the sticker. It even SMELLS hot.
I always buy the hottest stuff, I slather it on to my legs, but I don't even get a tingle, nothing. I do get a nice glossy sheen though.
So what has happened?
Could there be some sort of a threshold where once you use the embrocation more than 12 times, your body becomes immune to it? The stuff used to work miracles back in 2005, but now, it is just no more than a fragrance.

put a bit on your nut-sack to check if it is systemic or just isolated to your legs ;)
Actually, I did put some on there by mistake at Canton. I was doing a little bit of adjusting and it got on the bottom. It was on fire, but not too bad.
Using the same bottle from 2005? That could be your problem. Some of those potions really seem to lose potency over time.
The Quolem grease I have is from 2007, so not too old.
Mad Alchemy medium heat burns hard for 12 hours. It is intense like a bad acid trip, you pray for it to end and it just builds strength and burns more.
The maximum insanity...I have some but am unwilling to try it. Ask me for it before your next race, I will provide rubber gloves for its successful application.
Seriously, I am dying to try that stuff. If I can feel it, it is the good stuff.
I switched to Leg Salsa this year but it has the frustrating habit of not being all that hot in cold, dry conditions and then no matter how careful I am about removing it my legs are burning hot in the middle of the night. Bring on the Mad Alchemy.
my A package arrived today via USPA. 3 cans, med, HOT, and warm weather. was sold out of -xtra'hot...never apply on lower back,...think crack.
The Mad Alchemy definitely burns long into the night, but isn't that part of the fun? Sort of like an acid trip that you'd like to end, but it keeps going...
Yash, find me before Northampton and I will allow you to slather the Alchemy on.
Sweet I will come find you. How should I prep the legs before lathering?
i have similar lackluster success from the sportsbalm medium. sometimes it works but more often than not it is just a nice shine and smell.
the greyhound juice used to work for me but that was years ago and that stuff was even longer than an acid trip because it burned into the next day.
bring on the alchemy.
Okay, 11AM, we are meeting to have a Mad Alchemy party.
